Trump's Transition Administration
Following his victory in the 2024 election, Donald Trump has begun preparations for his inauguration scheduled for January 20, 2025. Trump's transition team has signed a memorandum with the U.S. Department of Justice, allowing security clearances for candidates for positions in the upcoming administration. Experts note that this procedure significantly limits public appearances by candidates until their confirmation.
Foreign Policy and Ukraine
Trump has proposed a "peace through strength" plan, stating that President Zelensky is ready for negotiations and that Putin should also be prepared for dialogue. He also warned that military aid to Ukraine might be reduced. Moreover, Trump announced a potential U.S. withdrawal from NATO, which raises significant concerns among allies.
The Biden administration, for its part, before its term ends, plans to impose additional sanctions against Russia, aiming to undermine the Russian military machine, as stated by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured that Ukraine will be equipped with everything necessary for continuing the conflict into 2025 and for negotiating peace "from a position of strength."
Domestic Policy
President Joe Biden continues to work on economic initiatives despite the upcoming change in administration. He delivered a speech on the state of the U.S. economy, emphasizing the achievements of his administration in this area.
Trump, on the other hand, has already stated his intention to pardon participants in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot on his first day as president.
